Nelson Chan serves as the chief financial officer for the Capital Regional District, Capital Regional Hospital District, and Capital Region Housing Corporation. With over 25 years of experience, he specialises in executive leadership, strategic development, and business transformation in both public and private sectors.

His past professional roles include executive positions at Canada Post Corporation, Roots Canada Ltd., WRH Realty Services in St. Petersburg, Florida, and the Canadian division of Sega Amusements Inc.

Currently, Mr. Chan is the Board Chair and Chancellor of Royal Roads University, a Trustee of BC Government House, a Board Director for the CPABC Education Foundation, and a member of the CPA Western School of Business Admission and Standards Appeal Committee. His previous board roles include the Government Finance Officers Association of BC, Ottawa-based think tank the Natural Capital Lab, and Community Living BC, the provincial crown corporation serving adults with developmental diverse-abilities.

Mr. Chan earned a Bachelor of Commerce with a minor in Economics from McMaster University and a Master of Business Administration from Florida Metropolitan University. He has completed the Executive Leadership Program at University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and is Lean Six-Sigma certified. Additionally, Mr Chan is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA) in Ontario and British Columbia, and was elected to Fellowship by CPABC in 2020.
