Be prepared for your visit
You must be a resident of British Columbia to apply for or hold a B.C. driver's licence. If you are unsure if you qualify as a resident, please contact us.
Unpaid debt, such as a provincial violation ticket or penalty point premiums, could affect your ability to renew or upgrade your licence when you visit. If you have outstanding debt with us, please contact Account Services (604-661-2723 or 1-800-665-6442).
ICBC-operated driver licensing offices open their doors to the public at 9 a.m. on Wednesdays, except for the Metrotown location, which opens at 10 a.m. Service BC centres and driver licensing agents are not affected at this time. Walk-in availability varies from office to office—find your nearest driver licensing office for location-specific information about walk-ins and appointments.
Walk-ins are accepted at all ICBC driver licensing offices (except Metrotown) during the following hours:
- Weekdays (except Wednesdays) from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
- Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The Metrotown location accepts walk-ins during the following hours:
- Weekdays (except Wednesdays) from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
- Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
We'll do our best to serve those without appointments after the walk-in hours, but customers with appointments will be prioritized.
