Car seat and booster seat reimbursement amounts

If you need to replace your child's car seat after a crash, you can request a reimbursement from ICBC.
Note: ICBC does not reimburse costs for shipping and/or installation of car seats.
No-back booster seat
Appropriate for children who weigh over 18 kg (40 lbs.), a booster seat is required until they are 145 cm (4’9”) tall, or nine years old, whichever comes first. The booster seat must be used with a vehicle’s three-point lap/shoulder seat belt.
Reimbursement amount: $42 plus tax
2-in-1 booster car seat
When used as forward-facing car seat, the 2-in-1 seat is appropriate for children over one year old, weighing between 9 kg (20 lbs.) and 18 kg (40 lbs.) or more, based on the manufacturer’s weight limit.
When used as a booster seat, it is appropriate for children who weigh over 18 kg (40 lbs.) and is required until they are 145 cm (4’ 9”) tall, or nine years old, whichever comes first. The booster seat must be used with a vehicle’s three-point lap/shoulder seat belt.
Reimbursement amount: $135 plus tax
Removable rear-facing infant car seat
Appropriate for infants up to one year old who weigh 9 kg (20 lbs.) or more, based on manufacturer's weight limit.
Reimbursement amount: $175 plus tax
Convertible style
When used as a rear-facing car seat, the convertible-style car seat is appropriate for infants up to one year old who weigh 9 kg (20 lbs.) or more, based on manufacturer’s weight limit.
When used as forward-facing car seat, it is appropriate for children over one year old who weigh between 9 kg (20 lbs.) and 18 kg (40 lbs.) or more, based on manufacturer’s weight limit.
Reimbursement amount: $185 plus tax
3-in-1 convertible style
When used as rear-facing car seat, the 3-in-1 convertible-style car seat is appropriate for infants up to one year old who weigh 9 kg (20 lbs.) or more, based on manufacturer’s weight limit.
When used as forward-facing car seat, it is appropriate for children over one year old who weigh between 9 kg (20 lbs.) and 18 kg (40 lbs.) or more, based on manufacturer’s weight limit.
