ICBC services during Canada Post disruption
November 14, 2024
With the disruption to Canada Post mail services, we are encouraging customers to consider the options available to communicate with us and access ICBC services.
Driver licensing
We will not be able to mail B.C. driver’s licences during the postal disruption. However, when you obtain or renew your B.C. driver’s licence, you will be issued an interim driver’s licence (paper licence) that will be valid for 90 days. If a postal disruption continues beyond that period, we can issue another interim driver’s licence that would be valid for an additional 90 days.
Claims payments
If you normally receive, or are expecting, a claims payment cheque by mail, consult your claim representative for options to have this cheque printed and picked up in person at your local ICBC Claim Centre. You can also ask your claim representative to send you a payment electronically.
Policy renewals
We urge you to check your insurance policy to make sure you visit your broker before the policy’s expiry date. Renewal reminders will not be sent to customers by mail during any postal service disruption.
You can renew an ICBC insurance policy as early as 44 days before it expires, whether over the phone, in person or online.
If you haven’t renewed online before, and you haven’t previously used the BC Services Card app or Interac verification service to sign into another online service, we recommend setting up your preferred sign-in option at least a few days before you start your renewal.
