Mini motorcycles (Pocket bikes)
Mini motor vehicles, commonly referred to as “pocket bikes” or "mini choppers,” do not meet federal safety standards for use on public roads. They are designed for the purposes of racing or recreation.
Legal requirements
Mini motorcycles are not legal at any age on public roads
These vehicles are not generally allowed on public roads because they don't meet minimum height requirements for headlamps, tail lamps, stop lamps, and turn signals - they're also difficult for motorists to see
If you're using a mini motor vehicle on a parade route, it must be insured through a private insurer, which is not provided by ICBC.
Transport Canada classifies mini motorcycles as restricted use motorcycles - they can be imported for closed-course racing only
Safety requirements
When operating in designated areas, wear safety gear: helmet, gloves, body protection, appropriate clothing
Carry out a pre-ride check (brakes, hardware, tires)
