Tia's story
Tia was a pedestrian, crossing the street, when she was hit by a driver turning left. She suffered injuries and emotional trauma as a result of the crash. ICBC’s support and recovery team helped prioritize Tia’s physical and mental recovery, providing her with access to acupuncture treatments, among others, and making sure Tia was compensated for her travel to medical appointments. ICBC’s goal is to help anyone injured in a crash recover to their fullest through early access to benefits.

Lee-Anne's story
Lee-Anne’s mother was a passenger in a car that was hit by an oncoming vehicle. Following the crash, her mother spent weeks in intensive care but tragically died from her injuries. Through the ordeal, Lee-Anne was supported with ICBC benefits to cover travel between home and the hospital hours away, so she could be by her mother’s side. Following her mother’s death, Lee-Anne and her family were able to access benefits to cover funeral expenses and grief counselling, as soon as they needed it.
