Driver training

Take the GLP instructor course

Complete a GLP instructor course and get your designation to teach ICBC (GLP)-approved training.

As a GLP instructor, you can help your students reduce their time in graduated licensing and earn highschool credits.

How to get your GLP and GLT designation

To obtain both your GLP (practical) and GLT (theory) designation, you need to meet these requirements:

  • Complete the GLP instructor course

  • Hold a valid British Columbia driver training instructor's licence

  • Apply to ICBC's Driver Training Industry Support to have a GLP/GLT designation added to your instructor's licence

Instructors who hold an instructor's licence with a practical and GLP/GLT designation can teach both the practical and classroom components of an ICBC-approved driver education course at a licensed driving school.
