ICBC's Instructor Challenge Program
Driver training instructor applicants are required to take an instructor training course at an ICBC-authorized training facility.
You may be able to by-pass this requirement through ICBC’s Instructor Challenge Program.
Who can apply for the challenge program?
This program is intended for instructor licence applicants wanting to challenge the required instructor training.
To apply for the challenge, you must meet one of the following:
Hold an equivalent instructor's licence in another jurisdiction
Are reinstating a B.C. instructor's licence that has been expired for two years but not more than 10 years, or
Have provided extensive and recent learner driver training for certification facilities or companies in the class of instructor licence being applied for.
