Tread wear versus performance
As a tire's tread wears, the ability of the tire to provide satisfactory traction, cornering and braking capabilities is reduced. Most tires have tread wear indicator bars molded into the tread face. When your tires have worn down so you can see a solid bar of rubber across the width of the tread, it is time to replace them. Tires that are worn do not perform well in any conditions.
