Vintage plate Q&As
Does my antique vehicle have to pass the AirCare testing?
No. AirCare testing is not required for vintage plates.
I’m selling my antique vehicle. Do I have to hand in the plates to my Autoplan broker?
No. Unlike the regular plates and collector plates for passenger or commercial vehicles, vintage plates remain with the vehicle, not the owner, when the vehicle is transferred. To transfer the vehicle, an application for an Antique Vehicle Licence and Certificate (PDF)* must be completed.
I have collector plates on my antique vehicle. Can I display vintage plates on it as well?
If your antique vehicle has active collector plates, vintage plates may also be displayed—but only if there is not a vintage policy (APV44) in place. The collector plates must be mounted in the primary licence plate location.
