Before you can get a motorcycle learner’s licence, you need to pass the motorcycle knowledge test.

Where to take the test

When you're ready to take the knowledge test, go to your nearest driver licensing office at least one hour before closing time.

When you come in, you need to bring

If you pass the knowledge test and your application is accepted, you will get your motorcycle learner’s (Class 6L) licence. If you don't pass the test, you can come back another day and take it again for another $15.

Do I need an appointment?

You don't need an appointment for a knowledge test at most licensing offices.

However, you must call ahead and book an appointment for a test at these locations:

Motorcycle medical and vision checks

When you come in for your knowledge test, we will make sure you're fit to drive. We will ask about your medical condition and check your vision.

If the motorcycle licence is your first driver’s licence

You may have to take the Class 5 knowledge test as well.
