What about tickets and other penalties?
|
Note: Provincial violation tickets are
issued by municipal police, the RCMP, park wardens or other
peace officers. ICBC administers ticket payment procedures.
Additionally, the Office
of the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles determines
who should be prohibited from driving in British Columbia. ICBC
administers these restrictions on the Superintendent's behalf.
Information about provincial violation tickets
and driving penalties is provided here as a customer service.
This information also does not apply to federal contraventions violation tickets. For further information on federal contraventions violation tickets, please go to www.ag.gov.bc.ca/courts/tickets/index

- Beginning in January 2009, drivers who have a Criminal Code conviction (e.g., impaired driving), one or more tickets for excessive speeding (more than 40 km over the speed limit) and/or two or more roadside suspensions will pay a Driver Risk Premium.
A record of each motor vehicle violation
and driver penalty point you receive remains on your driving
record.
See Obtain
your driving record if you'd like
a copy of your 5-year driving record.
Unpaid provincial violation tickets or
unpaid driver penalty point premiums may also affect your ability
to purchase
or renew ICBC Autoplan insurance. See the If
you owe money section of Autoplan
Insurance for more information.
