How to buy
Choosing
a policy length | Monthly
payments | Making
changes | If
you owe money to ICBC or the provincial government | Buying
or selling a vehicle
You must let ICBC know if you change your:
- address
- name
- vehicle use (rate class)
- vehicle type
- vehicle colour
- model year of your vehicle
- vehicle chassis
- serial or Vehicle identification number
(VIN) [click
for definition]
- fuel type
- gross vehicle weight (GVW) [click
for definition]
- vehicle registration
Some of these changes may mean you need
to change your coverage. For example, if you move to a different
area, you may need to change the territory on your insurance. See
your Autoplan
broker to notify ICBC of changes to any
of the above. Because your insurance is a legal document, your broker
will require your signature to make changes to it.
If you have moved
out of B.C., there are special requirements.
Driver's licence changes can be made at any driver
licensing office or with your Autoplan
broker. For address change information
specific to driver licenses go here.
