How you retrieve an impounded vehicle depends on how long, and why, it was impounded.
To get your vehicle back, follow these steps:
| If your vehicle has been impounded | Then |
| seven days or less |
when the impoundment period ends, go to the impoundment lot to collect your vehicle. Be prepared to pay towing and storage fees. You do not have to visit an ICBC driver licensing office. |
| more than seven days |
|
| because it was stolen then recovered | go to the impoundment lot to collect your vehicle and pay any related storage charges. |
You can authorize someone else to pick it up at the impoundment lot on your behalf.
First, go to an ICBC driver licensing office to complete an Owner's Authorization form. The person collecting your vehicle must then follow the steps above and present the form at the licensing office.
