How to change the name on your driver’s licence

If you have changed your name, you will need a new driver’s licence to drive legally in B.C. To complete this change and to replace your driver’s licence, simply visit any Expressway or driver licensing office with:

• Legal proof of your name change. Examples of legal proof: marriage certificate issued by Vital Statistics or a marriage certificate issued by a religious organization or marriage commissioner. A divorce certificate (both the married and previous names must be on the document).
• Required ID. These can be in your new or old name.
• Fee to pay for your new licence.
