Preparing for a re-examination road test
Prepare for your re-examination road test by studying RoadSense for Drivers and practising on the road.
If you have been asked to take a driver's re-examination road test, it’s good to review your skills so you’re prepared for the test. You have 30 days from receiving your notice to book your re-examination road test.
To prepare for this re-examination road test, please:
- Read RoadSense for Drivers, Tuning Up for Drivers, Seniors Presentations by DLC offices and the Re-exam brochure. You will be tested on what you’ve learned from these guides. Pay particular attention to the road signs, signals and traffic safety section.
- Read what happens during a road test and practise to make sure you’re comfortable with the tasks. You might consider professional driving lessons.
- Book an appointment for a re-examination road test.
What to bring to the re-examination road test
Remember to bring the right documents to your re-examination road test. You’ll need:
- Required ID
- Your contact lenses or glasses, if required for driving
- Your vehicle insurance and registration documents
- Any special equipment that you use to help you drive
- Check your vehicle before you come in to ensure that it is safe and in good working order.
- Also, it’s a good idea to bring a qualified driver to the office with you. They can provide moral support, and if you don’t pass your re-exam, they can help you get home.
What will happen during the re-examination road test?
You will be asked to complete the following: re-examination road test, vision test, traffic signs and a road signals test.
The re-examination road test appointment will take approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
Remember to attend your re-examination as scheduled. The tests are free, but if you can’t make it and don't give us 48 hours' notice, we will charge $25 for the next appointment.
