Tuning Up for Riders
Tuning Up for Riders is a guide to learn how to ride a motorcycle with off street, low traffic, moderate traffic and higher speed practice.
What is it?
A hands-on manual for new riders and their Supervisors. It is designed to guide you through your riding practice sessions. Length: 128 pages, with helpful colour illustrations of key riding tips and maneuvers.
Who can it help?
- New riders and their qualified Supervisors
- Experienced riders who want to brush up on their riding skills
When should I use it?
- While you are preparing for the motorcycle skills test and the Class 8 and 6 road tests.
- Study Tuning Up for Riders at home. Then take it out with you to guide you through your riding practice sessions. Tuning Up for Riders presents essential riding skills in 20 separate sessions. Progress through a session each time you go out for a ride.
- A good way to learn to ride a motorcycle is to progress by stages. You'll start by building the foundation of your riding skills off the road at low speeds, and progress to riding in more challenging environments (e.g., in traffic, at intersections, at higher speeds).
- As you work through Tuning Up for Riders, also refer to B.C.'s safe riding guide, RoadSense for Riders. Together, these manuals will help you become a skilful, safe rider.
