Renew your enhanced driver's licence
To renew your enhanced driver's licence (EDL) you'll need to book an appointment and reapply.
This ensures that you still meet the eligibility requirements.

What to bring to your appointment
You will have to go to an EDL-designated driver licensing office to renew your EDL.
When you come in for your appointment, you'll need to bring
- your EDL
- your original birth certificate or Canadian citizenship document, and
- one other piece of additional identification.

Interim driver's licences
An interim driver's licence will be issued while you wait for your new EDL to arrive by mail.
Important! The interim driver's licence cannot be used for cross-border travel into the U.S. Be sure to take other acceptable documents if you are crossing into the U.S. by land or water while waiting for your replacement EDL.
