When you come in for your appointment, you need to bring
* Note: When renewing an EDL, a passport is not accepted as proof of Canadian citizenship.
Due to a Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) change, anyone using a Canadian Citizenship Certificate issued on or after Feb. 1, 2012 as ID cannot apply for or renew an EDL or EIC.
ICBC is working with CIC and hopes to be able to accept this document in the near future. Please check back for updates.

Interim driver's licences
While waiting for your new EDL to arrive by mail, an interim driver's licence will be issued to you.
Important: The interim driver's licence cannot be used for cross-border travel into the U.S.
