Rebate or discount
Cost breaks for theft-proofing
When you choose a theft-resistant vehicle
or add crime-proofing to your parking routine, you deserve a break.
ICBC provides two. One is a discount. The other comes after a crime
has been attempted. It's a little relief from the stress and expense
of a claim, and every little bit helps.
Insurance discount
The most effective type of anti-theft devices
automatically immobilize a vehicle's engine when the ignition is
turned off. If you equip your vehicle with a passive electronic
immobilizer, you will be eligible for a discount on your Comprehensive
or Specified Perils Autoplan insurance.
The amount of your discount will vary depending
on the type of vehicle you drive and where you live. Motorcycles
and trailers are not eligible for the anti-theft device discount.
Contact your Autoplan
broker for more information.
Document your anti-theft device settings
When your anti-theft device is installed,
have the installer document that:
- an electronic engine immobilizer is installed
AND
- the device is set to activate passively
The installer's notes will support your
request for an insurance discount.

Deductible
rebate
If your vehicle is equipped with an anti-theft
device, you may qualify for a $100 rebate on the deductible you
pay for an insurance claim. Rebates are offered when:
- your properly installed and activated
anti-theft device prevented your vehicle from being stolen AND
- there is evidence of intent to steal
the vehicle
You may also be entitled to a $100 rebate
if your vehicle is stolen and recovered, with evidence that the
anti-theft device was compromised.
There are no deductible rebates for anti-theft
devices installed in trailers or motorcycles.
