If you are not satisfied with your adjuster’s settlement offer, there are several options to consider before starting a legal action.
If you disagree with a settlement offer, ask your adjuster for an explanation in order to make sure you both have a clear understanding of all the factors that were considered in arriving at the offer. This is your opportunity to point out anything that might have been overlooked.
If after talking to your adjuster you are still not satisfied with the settlement amount, ask to speak to your adjuster's manager. The manager can objectively review the circumstances of your claim. If there is still a disagreement on the settlement amount they will let you know what dispute options are available to you.
If after talking to the manager you are still not satisfied with the amount of your settlement, you can negotiate through a lawyer. Keep in mind that if you hire a lawyer to represent you, your adjuster must work through your lawyer rather than directly with you.
