Where Do We Get Our Consumer Information?

Air bags

Information on air bags is supplied to ICBC by vehicle manufacturers and Transport Canada. "Optional" may mean an air bag is available at extra cost, included in a package of options, or with a model that includes other features.

Anti-lock brakes

Anti-lock braking system information is supplied to ICBC by vehicle manufacturers. As with air bags, "optional" means the ABS may be available only as part of a package or model upgrade. Be sure to look into the system offered on the vehicle you selected, as there are different types of systems available.

Head restraint design

Head restraint ratings are based on head restraint height and setback measurements taken by ICBC researchers. On adjustable head restraints, the measurements are taken with the head restraint in its lowest position.

Head restraint design ratings are based on the 50th percentile male (175 cm, 77 kg) with the head restraint measured in the lowest possible position. A Fair rating may be a reasonable fit for someone smaller than the 50th percentile male.

Anti-theft devices

Anti-theft device information is supplied by vehicle manufacturers. "Optional" means the system is available as part of a package, model upgrade or as a dealer installed option. Check with your dealer for availability.

Traction control

Traction control system information is supplied by vehicle manufacturers. As with anti-lock brakes, "optional" means the traction control system may be available only as part of a package or model upgrade.
