RoadSidePlus Rental Vehicle coverage
Many rental vehicle companies offer insurance for their customers, but the cost can be higher than buying it in advance with ICBC. Plan ahead to get insured at the best possible rate.
Rental vehicle coverage is part of your RoadSidePlus package. Buy before you rent to get Third-Party Liability, Accident Benefits and more at an affordable rate.
What is included?
- Up to $2 million Third-Party Liability coverage for damage or injury you cause.
- Accident Benefits — Includes disability, funeral and death benefits, plus up to $150,000 for medical and rehabilitation.
- Up to $1 million Underinsured Motorist Protection (UMP).
- Collision and Comprehensive coverage with a $300 deductible.
- Up to $250 for Loss of Use Coverage — Get a rental vehicle or reimbursement for replacement transportation if you can’t drive the rental vehicle because of a crash.
- Payment for claims made by the rental company for loss of rental income.
There are several extras:
- Accident Benefits and UMP for anyone in your vehicle and everyone in your household.
- Coverage for any other driver you permit (remember to name each one on the rental contract).
- Motorbikes, motor homes and trailers are covered.
- Coverage of rentals up to 30 days.
RoadsidePlus Rental Vehicle Coverage does not cover:
- commercial vehicles of more than 5,000 kg GWV
- any borrowed vehicle
- any vehicle used for carrying passengers or goods for compensation,
- a bus with a seating capacity of 16 or more that is used for carrying passengers
- any vehicle rented exclusively for the use of non-B.C. residents,
- any vehicle other than a motor home, a truck and camper rented as a unit, or a wheelchair accessible vehicle for which the daily rental rate exceeds $125 Cdn or $100 US
- snow mobiles, snow vehicles, golf carts, all-terrain vehicles, industrial machines and road-building machines
