T. Michael Porter - Board member

T. Michael Porter was most recently the President, CEO and a Board Member with the CUMIS Group Limited, where he oversaw all operations for five different insurance and financial services companies for nine years.

Michael has 38 years of experience in the insurance business, beginning as an underwriter trainee with the Continental Insurance Company and then an underwriter with the Canadian Indemnity Company.

Michael was an ICBC manager in the general insurance division and then a manager in the claims division. After he left ICBC, Michael was the Vice President, then the Senior Vice President and COO of Canadian Northern Shield Insurance Company.

Michael has over 15 years of board of directors experience, which included being Board Chair with the Insurance Institute of Canada. Michael currently chairs the independent review committee for the Ethical Group of Funds, Northwest & Ethical Investments L.P.

Michael holds an FCIP with the Insurance Institute of Canada and an ICD.D with the Institute of Corporate Directors.
